About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Home Maintenance Officer to provide a responsive, customer-focused home maintenance service to clients in the community. You will play a key role in supporting older residents and people with disabilities to live safely and confidently at home.
This is a field-based role requiring a proactive and flexible approach, excellent time management skills, and the ability to carry out a wide range of basic maintenance tasks with a strong focus on safety and quality service delivery.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform minor home maintenance tasks including:
- Installing safety rails, locks, step extensions, handles
- Replacing smoke detector batteries and light globes
- Basic repairs, furniture fixes, heavy-duty cleaning, and gardening (safety-related only)
- Conduct Home and Equipment Safety Checks
- Carry out holistic safety assessments in client homes
- Liaise with Allied Health professionals and other community care team members
- Purchase materials and provide quotes as needed
- Maintain accurate records and financial documentation
- Mentor new team members and contribute to ongoing quality improvements
Requirements:
- Current First Aid Level 2
- Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
- Relevant trade qualifications or equivalent experience in general home maintenance
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality maintenance work
- Excellent communication skills with elderly and/or disabled clients
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Strong attention to safety and OH&S awareness
- Physical capability to perform manual tasks
